Based on a Qiong Yao novel, the 1981 Taiwan romance Errant Love is a classic melodrama of chance encounters and brooding heartache starring Kenny Bee and Lu Hsiu Ling. Directed by Liu Li Li, who also helmed the Qiong Yao adaptations Courtyard Deeply, Yan Yu Meng Meng, and Ji Du Xi Yang Hong, the feature film adaptation of Errant Love came right on the footsteps of the novel which was published in 1980. Lu Hsiu Ling and Kenny Bee, who also starred together in the Qiong Yao adaptation My Cape of Many Dreams in the same year, play a handsome bachelor and young widow who fall in love, but circumstances make it difficult for them be together..
