John Inman in his first starring role - after shooting to fame as the mincing Mr Humphries in the BBC sitcom Are You Being Served?. Inman played Neville Sutcliffe, owner of a Blackpool fish and chipperie who inherits half ownership (with step-sister Dorothy) of his father's stick-rock factory in Sussex.

Neville duly departs Blackpool and moves down to Littlehampton and launches into whole new episodes in his life. Among his staff at the factory is Wilf (played by Peter Butterworth) whose favourite saying is 'How's your rock, cock?'.
